Re: Mass Effect 2
It was announced before that. I seem to recall reading about it (and seeing a teaser for it) a few weeks ago. I've heard that you're supposed to keep your save games, so that's promising in terms of continuity of some kind.
I'm still playing through the first one. I love my sniper rifle and charm ability.

Re: Mass Effect 2
I'd like to play Mass Effect, but my game crashes at random intervals -- usually during conversations. I'm not alone in this, either. After a quick search on Google, I found out that this error is extremely common.
It's unlikely a patch will be made, since this problem occurs on all different types of hardware and both XP and Vista. There's no single common denominator to work with, which would make developing a patch practically impossible.

Mass Effect 2.
I realize there's a Mass Effect thread, but I figured I'd make a MASS EFFECT 2 thread, as there seems to be a few of us who will be playing it.
So I am asking that the spoiler tags be used in this thread when discussing Mass Effect 2. Use the other thread to discuss Mass Effect 1.

Re: Mass Effect 2.
So I got the Collector's Edition of Mass Effect 2 (I am rather torqued that the Collector's Edition does not include the soundtrack - but there's a Digital Download coming of Mass Effect 2 that includes the Soundtrack!) - but the wife also purchased the PC version for me. I have not tried either yet because I want to resist temptation and beat Dragon Age: Origins first on the X360...

I want to play it! I'm just not in the position to spend a lot on games right now or commit 40 hours to another Bioware story. But the gameplay does look awesome so far.

Re: Mass Effect 2.
I'd like to play it, but first I need to get through the original Mass Effect. I tried it and I kept getting errors that booted me out to the desktop. The patch seemed to fix that, but for some reason or another, the game wouldn't let me load any saves I had. So I uninstalled it. I have other games to play, but... it still sounds interesting.
Anyway, I also need to complete Dragon Age, something that wont occur anytime soon. I have way too many other games to play, so I'll get back to DA, but who knows when.

Re: Mass Effect 2.
I've kind of hit a bit of a rough patch in Dragon Age, so I'd really love to get into Mass Effect 2 now. I think it will be really good. However, I will wait until I'm finished Dragon Age. That will be more cost effective and I don't want to have a string of unplayed games at home.

Re: Mass Effect 2.
I bet it wouldn't let you load the save games, like the old school Sierra games. If you applied a patch, it changed the version number and couldn't be read? (Which is poor design if that was the case...) Are there other people reporting the same problem?DeadPoolX wrote:I'd like to play it, but first I need to get through the original Mass Effect. Trust me, you want to get to Dragon Age.
Rest assured, I feel your pain. The Deep Roads was the last part (Dwarf Ally) for me - and I put the game down for almost three weeks. (Not just because of the Deep Roads, because there was a trip to New Orleans and lots of catching up on the television to do for the wife, etc etc). But I picked it up again last night because my collector's edition of Mass Effect 2 is calling my name. I finally powered through the Deep Roads and made it to the Anvil, started the Lands Meet, and then the game got really interesting, really fast. My blab about Dragon Age & Deep Roads basically saying what I just said. But in the Dragon Age thread.Maiandra wrote:I've kind of hit a bit of a rough patch in Dragon Age, so I'd really love to get into Mass Effect 2 now. I think it will be really good. Re: Mass Effect 2.
I think I'll pass on Mass Effect 2 until I finish the first one. I'll follow closely your opinions, though, because, if the game has shifted too much toward FPS, I may not get it at all

Re: Mass Effect 2.
I have started Mass Effect 2 - and I think you may still like it, Andrea... It ALREADY has a good start... and Martin Sheen is effin awesome. His voice REALLY is great as the Elusive Man.
The FPS aspect of it is very forgiving.

Re: Mass Effect 2.
I have one very big complaint with MASS EFFECT 2. Everyone here knows I am pretty pervy with my humor, more often than not. I am CERTAINLY no prude. But something I have never really liked in fantasy or scifi games - Cussing. And especially excessive amounts. In some settings - it fits. Gears of War for example, it seems to fit. In Mass Effect, it doesn't. And when I rescued one character by the name of Jack, they said:
Please be advised of the language content within the spoiler - it may and will probably offend.
"Oh, don't you sound like a f*cking pussy?"
Now... I was shocked when I heard that. And very, very, very, very disappointed. That single line took out a GREAT amount of enjoyment for me from MASS EFFECT 2. It saddens me that games now feel the need to cuss all the time. It's become more and more and more common. I don't mind a "Damn!" every now and then. Or even a "Shit!" now and then. But "f*cking pussy" - I mean SERIOUSLY - was that needed? You can show that someone has a bad attitude without cussing to such extremes. This drips with poor writing skills. I know I will not be using Jack in any of the missions. If for no other reason than to be spared what might come out of Jack's mouth.

Re: Mass Effect 2.
Well, ME2 is an M-rated game in which the character is in the military. While that doesn't necessitate the use of any expletive, it's not surprising that SOME foul language would be used at some point.
However, I do agree with you. That particular comment doesn't seem all that necessary. Jack could have called Shepard an asshole or something like that if he felt the absolute need to hurl an insult.
I'm not a prude. I've probably said more four-letter words on here than most of you. But I try to do so sparingly. I only do it to emphasize a point or if I'm really pissed off. Using foul language too much simply weakens the effect it has when you want to use it and sounds childish after a while.
NOTE: Anyone notice that if you put "Jack" and "Shepard" together, you get the completely annoying main character in Lost? I'm sure that's a coincidence, but if you've ever watched that show, you know Jack Shephard (surname spelled differently than the player character in ME/ME2) is a lunatic -- and not in an amusing way, either.
