So: do you like the games? And what do you think of April and Zoe?

@Tawmis: you said to love strong female leads, what do you think of these games?

I have only played TLJ - and not all the way through. Someone had let me borrow the game and they were eventually moving. And I never got to beat it. I have been looking for both of these since then.

I will have to check ebay sometime. My current obsession is trying to get a hold of SQ1EGA... then I will have all the games I am REALLY looking for. The rest after that will be nice to have (like I landed Silpheed, Firehawk and A10 Tank Killer recently all for a cheap price).

But I will look for these again - especially if they're common - which I hope means they're cheap.

Both games can still be purchased new. Tawm, before you do anything about it, check your PM. The Longest Journey is one of my favorite non-Sierra games. I was a little put off by Dreamfall with all of the combat and especially all of the sneaking. It became so irritating the I never finished it, in spite of how much I loved TLJ.

I loved the heck out of "The Longest Journey," but "Dreamfall" not so much. There was too much dialogue and most of the puzzles involved traveling from point A to point B, or playing a phone game. I wouldn't have minded more combat if they made it a bit more engaging.

Like many others, I loved TLJ, and while Dreamfall was pretty impressive graphics-wise and seemed to have a lot of potential, it was still a bit of a letdown. It left me with even more questions than TLJ did, and answered virtually none of the questions from the end of TLJ. I also could have done without Dreamfall's ending...

I played both games and - whilst I'm not a fan of their gameplay (I found TLJ too clunky and DF, otherwise, too breezing) - I think that their story is pretty great, even if - being so nebulous - it might turn out like a total mess :P

I want to give faith to Tornquist, though!

As it is - thanks to the wonderfulness of Collector - TLJ will soon be in my hands so I can start all over and finish it!

I remember way back when I first played TLJ - what a treat :)
I sat for hours just looking and clicking at everything - exhausted all dialogs everytime and took my time with it.

The only complaint I have is, that seeing so many details in just one image, I wanted to touch everything, but couldn't or didn't get any response to it.

I agree. The environments are pretty unresponsive, sadly. And the ones in Dreamfall are even worst :(

Of course this is another way that the Sierra games out shined the others. "Alexander has no need to carry around large rocks." Even if it is something that couldn't be used you at least got a response.

You're totally right, Collector.

Even in The Beast Within, which is FMV game, you can look at/examine a lot of things that aren't related to the main story (the crucifix in Huber's house, for example; or the clock in Marientplatz) and Gabriel always has something fitting to say about that thing.

Sierra definitely* set the bar for interaction with the environment.

* How much do I love the adverb "definitely" in these days? :D

I am posting a link to the page for the 4 CD version patch, which is the version that I sent Tawm.
